TOUK: Top Chef Winner Brings Modern Cambodian Cuisine to Alberni Street This November
Neighborhood: West End / Alberni Street District
Address: 1152 Alberni Street, Vancouver, BC
This November, Vancouver welcomes a bold new culinary voice with the opening of TOUK, the debut Vancouver restaurant from acclaimed Top Chef Canada Season 11 winner Chef Chanthy Yen. Named after the Khmer word for “boat,” TOUK is a deeply personal project for Chanthy, a homage to his Cambodian heritage, his family’s journey, and his own evolution as a chef.
TOUK reimagines Cambodian cuisine through a modern, borderless lens, blending French technique with Cambodian flavours, locally sourced ingredients, and contemporary storytelling. Guests can expect both à la carte and prix fixe menus in a warm, earthy dining room anchored by a triptych from Cambodian street artist FONKi, alongside a sleek upstairs cocktail bar, LOOLAA, with standing space for 20 and a focus on curated drinks and complimentary snacks.
The 55-seat, two-level restaurant is a collaboration between Yen and renowned restaurateurs Dave Loeuy (Song) and Terrence Feng (Kin Kao), with a beverage program led by Tara Davies (Chupito) and a natural wine list curated by Jayton Paul (Chez Céline) and Virginie Semery (St. Lawrence).
For Chanthy, whose resume includes serving as Chef to the Prime Minister and leading Michelin‑recommended kitchens,TOUK represents a first: his own home, where memory meets craft, and tradition meets daring new expression.
