KAVITA

Neighborhood: Mount Pleasant
Address: 250 W 3rd Avenue, Vancouver

Vancouver’s dining scene welcomed a fresh and deeply personal entry with the opening of Kavita this month, where acclaimed chef‑owner Tushar Tondvalkar brings his roots and refined global experience to the heart of Mount Pleasant. Drawing on his culinary pedigree at kitchens like Gaggan and Gaa, his new restaurant was named as a tribute to Tushar’s mother. Meaning “poetry” in Marathi, Kavita is a space where each dish is crafted to tell a story. The restaurant honours India’s diversity while

Inside the 46‑seat dining room (including an 8‑seat chef’s table and open kitchen), guests are invited to choose between two distinct menus: a festival‑driven à la carte inspired by Indian celebrations such as Holi and Diwali, and the immersive “amma‑kase” tasting menu, a harmonious blend of Indian themes with omakase style. Dishes range from Mangalorean banana buns with toasted coconut chilli butter, to chicken‑kebab‑stuffed morels in korma sauce, and Malvani prawn pulao made with BC‑sourced produce.

With its regional vision, crafted technique, and a space designed to focus on storytelling through food, Kavita marks a significant addition to Vancouver’s culinary landscape.

Kavita is open Tuesday through Saturday with dinner service from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and bar service extending later into the evening. Reservations are now open!
