This Dream Team is Creating Homemade Pasta Alongside Italian Vibes in Mt Pleasant

Giusti

Neighborhood: Mount Pleasant
Address: 209 East 6th Avenue

Giusti opens this week in the old Bar Susu spot, bringing fresh, regional Italian cooking to Mount Pleasant under the guidance of a powerhouse local team. The restaurant was launched by co‑founder Carla Giusti alongside hospitality veterans Cam Watt (The Keefer Bar, Acre, June) and Miguel Quezada (Savio Volpe, Oddfish, Elio Volpe), with Chef Mark Perrier (Savio Volpe, Osteria Savio) helming the kitchen. Together, they focus on simplicity, seasonal ingredients, and a heartfelt philosophy that honours Italian home cooking.

Giusti’s cuisine centres on handmade pasta crafted daily by pastaiolo Tew Udomchaisakul and elevated antipasti prepared by Sous Chef Marquella Uhrigh. Expect dishes like anolini, bruschetta, oxtail, and various kinds of pasta that highlight Italy’s regional diversity with minimal intervention and maximum flavour. Complementing a impactful menu is a wine list curated by award‑winning Wine Director Lisa Cook and aperitivi‑style cocktails.

The space, set in the historic Ashnola Building, blends old‑world charm with modern design, tall windows filling the room with light and a warm glow in the evenings—perfect for date nights or neighbourhood dinners. Giusti is open daily from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., serving dinner with a focus on approachable Italian hospitality.
