Mates on Crates Feat. Mike Jacobsen
G’day,
Those in the know, know where to go.
We’re excited to have just launched our latest episode of Mates on Crates, featuring Mike Jacobsen, Owner & Founder at Cassette Cafe & Dive Bar on Salt Spring Island. Cassette is a reimagined 1950s gas station with a daytime cafe, a gritty-but-polished dive bar, strong cocktails, great music, and casually elevated food that feels right at home on the island. Mike’s hospitality story started in White Rock, moved through Tofino, Cactus Club, and major restaurant projects, before he opened Cassette in July 2022 and later took on Moby’s Pub. It was a pleasure to sit down with Mike to chat Salt Spring, island hospitality, music, old service stations, Cactus Club lore, Moby’s, and all of Mike’s favourite spots.
Each time we do a Mates on Crates interview, our guests share up to twenty of their favourites with us. For each episode, only a handful of those favourites make it into the final two minute cut. In order to highlight all of our guest’s favourites, we are happy to share the full list of favourites right here.
