Mates on Crates Feat. Reuben Major
G’day,
Those in the know, know where to go.
We’re excited to have just launched our latest episode of Mates on Crates, featuring Reuben Major, Partner and Co-Owner at Violeté Kitchen on Commercial Drive. Violeté is a newly opened European-inspired neighbourhood restaurant shaped by Italian AND Spanish influences, serving pizza, pasta, share plates, cocktails, and a focused wine list built around Spain, Italy, and BC. Reuben is co-owner of the Van Urban Hospitality team, behind existing favourites like Belgard Kitchen, Havana, The Flamingo Room, and now Violeté, bringing a deep sense of hospitality, design, community, and Commercial Drive energy to the group’s newest room. It was a pleasure to sit down with Reuben to chat transforming the former Famoso space, building a restaurant around Spanish and Italian flavours, the Van Urban Hospitality story, and all of Reuben’s favourite spots.
Each time we do a Mates on Crates interview, our guests share up to twenty of their favourites with us. For each episode, only a handful of those favourites make it into the final two minute cut. In order to highlight all of our guest’s favourites, we are happy to share the full list of favourites right here.
