Mates on Crates Feat. Jake McWilliams

G’day,

Those in the know, know where to go.

We’re excited to have just launched our latest episode of Mates on Crates, featuring Jake McWilliams, Chef & Co-Owner at Theo’s Social Club in Noosa Junction, Australia. Theo’s Social Club is a lively neighbourhood wine bar and kitchen known for its produce driven small plates, thoughtful wine list, and relaxed late night hospitality that has made it a favourite for both locals and industry regulars. Guests can expect a menu of Mediterranean leaning share plates, seasonal cocktails, and a room that feels equal parts neighbourhood hangout and late night dining spot. Jake is a Tasmanian born chef whose career has taken him from kitchens in Hobart to London’s famed Ivy, the French and Swiss Alps, superyachts in the Mediterranean, and even a season cooking in Whistler before returning to Australia. He now runs Theo’s alongside his wife Gabby, combining years of global kitchen experience with a produce first philosophy and a knack for creating welcoming rooms where great food, wine, and conversation come together. It was a pleasure to sit down with Jake to chat his culinary journey from Tasmania to Europe and Canada, the philosophy behind Theo’s Social Club, and all of Jake’s favourite spots.

Each time we do a Mates on Crates interview, our guests share up to twenty of their favourites with us. For each episode, only a handful of those favourites make it into the final two minute cut. In order to highlight all of our guest’s favourites, we are happy to share the full list of favourites right here.
