We’re excited to have just launched our latest episode of Mates on Crates, featuring Annika Hagen, Owner & Operator at Salty Pear on Salt Spring Island. Set on a five-acre agricultural property within walking distance of Ganges, Salty Pear is a B&B, curated artist gallery, studio, community sauna, and event space, surrounded by heritage fruit trees planted more than 80 years ago. With thoughtfully designed accommodations, local touches, rotating art exhibitions, and community gatherings, Salty Pear offers guests an opportunity to slow down and experience island life at a different pace. Annika has spent the past decade developing the property into a welcoming creative hub, drawing on her background in the restaurant industry, event production and the arts. She also runs LAMP, an international lighting design competition that grew out of her passion for bringing people together through design and experiential events.
It was a pleasure to sit down with Annika to chat about Salty Pear’s many offerings, the creative community on Salt Spring Island, her work in lighting design, and all of Annika’s favourite spots.
